Meet Timothy Baer
Chambersburg District Superintendant

E-mail Tim

Rev. Dr. Timothy R. Baer became the District Superintendent of the Chambersburg District on July 1, 2004. With a keen interest in pastoral leadership for the 21 st century, he is excited about the ministry and mission possibilities where the gospel and culture intersect. Dr. Baer came to the Chambersburg District from the Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church, a dynamic, growing ministry and mission minded community in the New Cumberland District where he served as lead pastor. Under his leadership, the church grew substantially and completed a 2.2 million dollar expansion.

“These are exciting days that require the best in church leadership – clergy and lay,” Dr. Baer says. “The issues with which our world struggles require communities of faith engaged in faithful holy boldness. The leadership of such communities is transformational when mind and heart are rooted in the gospel and open to the winds of the Spirit. The resulting expressions of creative ministries and missions are such that physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs of individuals and communities are met in such a way as to make disciples of Jesus Christ. With humility and relying on God’s grace, I offer myself, and the wisdom and understanding gained over the years, in service to the church. We United Methodists have a great history yet to be written!’

Dr. Baer’s past involvement and leadership has included numerous jurisdictional, conference, district and local boards and agencies. In 2004 he received a Doctor of Ministry degree (focused on Church Leadership) from Wesley Theological Seminary. Tim is married to Ann and together they have a son, Joshua, and a daughter, Sarah.
